This merger represents not only the blending of two families dedicated to providing compassionate care but also the creation of a shared legacy to support families for generations to come.
The Legacy of Guerry Funeral Home
Guerry Funeral Home traces its beginnings to the lifelong dedication of William “Bill” Guerry. Born in Lake City and raised in the funeral industry by his father, Theo Guerry, Bill grew up learning the values of compassion, professionalism, and community service. After graduating from Columbia County High School and earning his degree in mortuary science from Dallas-Institute Gupton Jones College in 1965, Bill began his journey in the funeral profession.
In Baker County, Bill and his wife Diane purchased Brinkley Funeral Home, establishing Guerry Funeral Home as a cornerstone of care for local families. His passion for serving extended back to his hometown, where he opened a Lake City location, continuing his commitment to excellence and community service. In 2024 Bill’s granddaughter, Brittnee Milton, took ownership of the Macclenny funeral home.
The Journey of Forbes Funeral Home
Forbes Funeral Home, family-owned and operated, has been a trusted name in the funeral industry for nearly four decades. Hank Forbes was a 1990 graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Atlanta, Georgia and a veteran of the United States Army. After years of experience with both independent and corporate funeral homes, Hank recognized the need for a dedicated and affordable funeral service provider in Macclenny. A resident since 2003, he established Forbes Funeral Home, offering the community a reliable and compassionate option for their funeral needs.
As of February 26, 2021, Hank’s son, Hawke M.T. Forbes, proudly assumed ownership, continuing the tradition of personalized care and dignity. Hank passed from this life on July 1, 2024 at the age of 59. His passion for his community and the funeral industry lives on through our team.

On November 2, 2024, Hawke M.T. Forbes married Brittnee Milton and their family businesses merged to form Guerry Forbes Funeral Home. The merger of Guerry Funeral Home and Forbes Funeral Home symbolizes a union of shared values: compassion, professionalism, and dedication to families. Together, as Guerry Forbes Funeral Home, the combined expertise and legacy of these two families create a stronger foundation for serving Baker County and surrounding North Florida communities.
