Mr. Wilmer Allen Hopson, age 92 of Macclenny, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 with his family by his side.

Born on March 29, 1926 in Thomas County, Georgia to the late Mr. Kenneth and Dora Hopson, Mr. Wilmer spent most of his life in Ellenton, Georgia.

Mr. Hopson served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After his time with the Army, Mr. Hopson went on to be a carpenter, a career he dedicated many years to.

In his spare time, Mr. Wilmer enjoyed fishing and gardening. He also spent time tinkering with lawn mowers. For many years, Mr. Hopson had a rooster, known as the "big red rooster", that wandered his yard. He will be remembered by his family as a simple and loving man.

Mr. Hopson is survived by his daughter: Betty Ussery of Jacksonville; grandson: Darrell (Debbie) Finley of Macclenny; granddaughters: Cheryl (Troy) Bunting of Callahan, Carol (Daniel) Riggins of Middleburg, Janie Ussery of Jacksonville, and Debbie Bennett of Tampa; numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and other family members also survive.

Mr. Hopson is preceded in death by his parents; sons: Ronnie Hopson and Buddy Hopson; and daughters: Faye Qualls and Mary Ellen Finley.

Graveside services for Mr. Hopson will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the River Road Baptist Church Cemetery, Hilliard, Florida.
