William Thigpen

Mr. William E. Thigpen Sr., age 82 of Macclenny, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Having spent over twenty years in the United States Army, Mr. Thigpen was a retired Staff Sergeant who served in Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his sons: William "Bill" E. Thigpen Jr. of Macclenny, Robert "Bobby" (Nancy) Thigpen of Orange Park, Donald "Peewee" (Wanda) Thigpen of Macclenny, Henry "Gator" (Kathy) Thigpen of Macclenny, and Ronald "Punkin" (Donna) Thigpen of Jacksonville; sister: Faye Gill of Valdosta, GA; thirty five grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Louise Crews Thigpen and daughter: Glenda Louise Thigpen Cline. Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home with Reverend David Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30pm at the Jacksonville National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Monday, December 29, 2014 at the funeral home.
