William Melvin Taylor, age 77 of St. George, passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Baptist Downtown Medical Center. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on August 31, 1946, the son of the late William Edward and Wilma Bernice (Harmon) Taylor. “Bill” would go on to proudly defend his country with the United States Army and would serve in the Vietnam War.
Bill would eventually settle in St. George, enjoying life in the Georgia Bend. He worked for over fifteen years as a shipping manager for Michael’s distribution center. Bill loved spending time with his neighbors and friends, telling stories over cold beer and good cigars. He liked to play cards, cook, and read in his downtime. He was especially fond of his fur baby, “DogDog”.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father.
He is survived by a host of close friends he considered family, including Mylissa and Ricky Yates, Mary Russell, and Dwight York all of St. George, and Bobbie Burnsed of Sanderson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and Mr. Taylor will be laid to rest in the Jacksonville National Cemetery to recognize his service to our great nation.
