Mr. William "Bill" Tobell, age 72 of Crawfordville, passed away Friday, February 17, 2017. He was born in Pensacola to the late Allen and Carrie Lasarsky Tobell. He grew up in Selma, North Carolina and joined the Navy in 1965. He enjoyed traveling the world while enlisted but always had fond memories of his youth, growing up near the Selma train station and playing on the railroad tracks. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and returned to his hometown. He became a radio broadcaster/DJ which likely sparked his love of electronics, computers, and surround sound. Bill also loved roller skating and eventually would teach his children, his grandchildren and their friends to roller skate. After moving to Crawfordville about thirty years ago, he began a career with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. He retired after twenty two years of service as a Senior Complaint Analyst. Bill was a member of Christian Worship Center and enjoyed attending church and teaching Sunday School. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife of 28 years: Vicky Strickland Tobell; son: Donavan (Michelle) Tobell of Princeton, NC; daughters: Jennifer (Ronnie) Stillwell of Goldsboro, NC, Ashlynn (Robert) Johnson of Crawfordville and Anna Carroll of Crawfordville; grandchildren: Kimberlyn (Matt) Everidge, Meaghan Carroll, Victoria Carroll, Aiden Boster, Jasper Carroll, Nathaniel Tobell, Brandon Tobell, Devin Stillwell, Elizabeth Tobell, and Asher Johnson; and brother: George (Susan) Griswold of Princeton, NC.
