Wanda Elaine Williams Smith, 87, of Baker County Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on August 12, 2023.Wanda was born December 27, 1935 in Jacksonville Florida to James and Annie Bell Clark Williams, the fifth oldest of fourteen children. She attended Callahan High school and graduated in 1954. Wanda retired from North East Florida State Hospital in 1992 where she worked in Communications as a Switch Board operator. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, writing poetry, ministering to those in need and playing the harmonica.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jackson Griffith and James (Junior) Smith; Her children Sheila Corne, AnthonyGriffith and Reggie Griffith; Her 10 siblings, Dorothy Schwend, Ruby Sheets, James Williams, Lavonne Webb, Gloria Canaday, Dan Williams, William Williams, Martha Pless, Rod Williamsand Jerry Williams.
Wanda is survived by her loving children Jackson Griffith (Kathy), Cheryl Griffith Mapp (Aubrey), Kevin Griffith and step-children Debbie Pelham (Gary) and Diane Dubose (John). Six grandchildren Sherri Henley (Junior), Kristin Dugard (Johnny), Tony Griffith (Gabby), Amber Thrift (Michael), Lindsey Mapp and Camden Mapp and 9 great-grandchildren. Also, survived by her siblings Raymond Williams, Glenda Chism and Terry Williams; numerous nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Road to Calvary Church, Glen St. Mary, Florida (7394 W. Madison St) on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:00 am. Funeral Services at 11:00 am, with Rev. Matt Rouse officiating.
Interment at Edgewood Cemetery, Jacksonville, Florida
Pallbearers: Aubrey Mapp, Camden Mapp, Tony Griffith, Jackson Griffith, Charlie Gressman and Gary Pelham. Honorary Pallbearer: Adian Henley
