Walter Stickney Smith

Mr. Walter Stickney Smith II, age 83 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Lake City Veterans Hospice Serenity Center.
He was born February 9, 1935 in Worcester, Massachusetts to the late Frank and Edna Smith. Mr. Walter retired from Cape Canaveral after forty two years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Lantern Park Baptist Church and he loved his church family. He enjoyed watching Atlanta Braves baseball on television. He also loved to bowl and play Bingo.
Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife Opal of 51 years; son: Walter Stickney Smith III of Atlanta, GA; daughter: Lisa Kay (Tom) Tishken of Grand Island, FL; grandchildren: Joshua and Kaylee Tisken; sisters: Sharlene Raulerson of Titusville, FL, Joyce (Cal) Davis of Titusville, FL, Cynthia (Gene) Crawford of Merritt Island, FL, Marj (Hollis) Green of Satellite Beach, FL, Debbie (Joseph) Lyons of Lake City, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at 10:00 am, at Lantern Park Baptist Church with Pastor Josh Haney officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny, FL. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny. 904-259-4600.
