Violet Elaine Redding Starling, 64, died at her home in Lawtey on Sunday, March 27, 2011 after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and served as its pianist for most of her life. She will always be remembered as a doting wife, a caring sister, a loving mother, a selfless friend, and a deeply devoted Christian. Mrs. Starling was preceded in death by mother Jewell Redding; sister Maxine Redding; infant son James D. Starling; brother-in-law Jimmie. Survivors include father Louin Redding; mother-in-law Ora "Tinkey" Starling; loving husband James T. Starling; daughter Ann Starling; son James A. (Roena) Starling; sisters Norma Lou (Glenn) Griffis, Judy Osteen; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. The funeral service was held March 30 at 11:00 am at the Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawtey with Revs. Albert Starling and Ron Kimbrell officiating. Interment followed at Manntown Cemetery. Forbes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
