Mr. Solomon M. Burnsed Jr., age 88, of Glen St. Mary, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017. A lifelong resident of Baker County, he was born to the late Solomon M. and Bertha Mae Raulerson Burnsed Sr. Mr. Burnsed was a United States Army Veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He loved God, his family, and his country. He was an independent truck driver for twenty five years and at the time of his retirement he worked in the shipping/receiving warehouse owned by the Baker County School System. Mr. Burnsed enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He will be remembered as a "people person" who never met a stranger, and as a "professional conversationalist". He is survived by his son: Jimmy (Lisa) Burnsed and daughter: Cathy Muncy, all of Glen St. Mary; brothers: Paul Burnsed and Woodrow (Retha Mae) Burnsed, all of Baxter; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty five years: Shirley Inez Burnsed; his brothers: John Burnsed, Rufus Burnsed, Leo Burnsed, Aaron Burnsed, and Owen Burnsed; and sister: Cecil Anglin. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Moniac Baptist Church, St. George, Georgia, where Mr. Burnsed was a member. Reverend Gene Burnsed and Reverend Justin Griffis will officiate. Burial will follow at North Prong Cemetery, Sanderson.
