Silas Arthur Nobles, age 83 of Macclenny passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the Community Hospice George and Margaret Morris Center for Caring. Born on February 17, 1939 in Waldo, Arthur was raised in Baker County by the late Mr. Henry and Mamie Parkerson. He was a familiar face at the Baker County Courthouse, where he worked as a custodian for nearly twenty-five years. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Army.
In his down time, Arthur enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved his family and the time he got to spend with his grandkids. He was a God-fearing man who enjoyed spending time in prayer and attending church when he was able.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Srforney Moore, Dolly Mae Streat, and Liona Stewart; as well as a son: Jamie “Gary” Nobles.
He is survived by his children: Terry (Connie) Nobles and Charlotte Nobles all of Westville, and Samantha Bryan of Jacksonville; nine grandchildren; his “little nurse” Angelica (Stephen) Nobles of Macclenny; numerous great-grandchildren; his “main nurse” Melissa (Michael) Harris of Macclenny; as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will be receiving friends Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Glen Friendship Tabernacle at 12:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Dr. Albert Starling officiating. Interment will follow at Manntown Cemetery.
