Shirley Divine Davis, 81 of Sanderson passed Monday, June 29, 2020 at home surrounded by her family. Ms. Shirley was born September 22, 1938 in Baxter to the late Mr. Gus H. and Nova (Burnsed) Canaday. She was a lifelong resident of Baker County. She married the love of her life, Mr. Elmus “Bud” Davis Sr. in 1956 and spent fifty-six years together until his passing in 2012. She was a loving wife and mother and treated many like her own. She never met a stranger and her home was always open to anyone in need. If you came hungry, you left fed, both physically and spiritually. She enjoyed reading her bible and taught Sunday school for over thirty-five years at Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church in Sanderson. She loved to learn and talk about the Lord and share her relationship with Him with others. She led many people to the Lord. Shirley loved spending time with family. She enjoyed being outside, camping, fishing, and tending to her garden.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Seaf Rhoden, Tony Canaday, and Claude Canaday; her husband, son: Scott Davis; and daughter: Rita Davis.

She leaves behind to cherish the many years of memories: daughters: Cindy (Eddy) Sanders of Sanderson and Lisa (Ben) Alexander of Brunswick; sons: Richard Davis, Elmus (Carolyn) Davis Jr., and Jerry Davis all of Sanderson; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Lori Davis; brother: J.N. (Linda) Canaday of Baxter; sisters: Jackie (Vernon) Harvey of Sanderson, Donelle Munson of Macclenny, Lucille Prescott and Reatha Mae (Woodrow) Burnsed all of Baxter; brother-in-law: Preston (Miriam) Davis of Sanderson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and close friends.

The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Dinkins New Congregational Methodist Church with her son-in-law, Rev. Eddy Sanders officiating.

She will be laid to rest in Cedar Creek Cemetery beside her husband.
