Mr. Robert S. Grear Jr., age 81 of Macclenny, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2015. Mr. Grear was born in Philadelphia and spent part of his childhood in St. Petersburg before settling in the Jacksonville area. He had been a Baker County resident for the past twenty-one years. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and was a retired claims supervisor for CSX Railroad. Mr. Grear was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny and enjoyed taking part in several charitable church activities. He was active in the church's food booth at the Baker County Fair and was president of the men's committee. He also served his fellow man by providing disaster relief; helping to rebuild homes and preparing food after natural disasters. He enjoyed traveling around the country by train, model railroading, electric trains, and photography. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He is survived by his daughters: Dr. Karen (Harry Krause) Grear of Huntingtown, Maryland and Lisa Anne Grear of Jacksonville and his brother: Bill (Julie) Grear of St. Petersburg, Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Grear. Funeral services will be held 1:00pm, Friday, July 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church of Macclenny with Pastor Don Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Memorial Park in Jacksonville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
