Robert Garbett

Robert L. "Bob" Garbett, age 70 of Lake City, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014. A forty three year Lake City resident, Mr. Garbett was a member of the Northside Baptist Church. He was a US Army Veteran, a retired HVAC Contractor, and the former Assistant Fire Chief of West Columbia Station 43 VFD. He also spent twelve years with the Lake City Fire Department Auxiliary. Bob enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting. He loved cooking and telling stories. He had a heart for people and never met a stranger. He loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandbabies. He is survived by his wife: Debbie Garbett; sons: Bobby (Lisa) Garbett, Danny (Tammy) Garbett, and Matt (Jenifer) Garbett; former daughter-in-law: Michelle Garbett all of Lake City; sisters: Nancy (Johnnie) Gillis of Clermont, Florida and Julie (Jim) Oakley of Edgewater, Florida; and grandchildren: Josh Garbett, Sarah Garbett, Cody Garbett, Eli Garbett, Noah Garbett, Ashley Brown and Alex Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil and Frances Garbett. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Friday, September 19, 2014 at Christ Central of Lake City with Reverend Burl Harkey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Christ Central. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bob Garbett Memorial Fund at First Federal Bank of Florida.
