Mrs. Rita Jo Mims Taylor, age 74 of Tallahassee, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Mrs. Taylor was born in Tallahassee to the late Wilbur E. and Maggie Allen Mims Sr. She was a receptionist at KM Services/Cambridge in Tallahassee for eighteen years. In her free time, she enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting antiques, sewing, and listening to gospel music. Mrs. Taylor especially enjoyed baking wedding cakes with her twin sister, Linda. She was a kind woman who loved the Lord. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was happiest when spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of fifty seven years: Amos B. Taylor; sons: Billy (JoAnn) Taylor of Crawfordville, Howard (Sandy) Taylor of Maxville, Florida, Bruce (Sybil) Taylor of Medart, and Cricket (Tina) Taylor of Crawfordville; daughter: Missy Zarate of Tallahassee; brothers: Wilbur E. (Barbara) Mims Jr., James (Jeannette) Mims, and Noah (Janette) Mims all of Tallahassee and Eddy (Beth) Mims of Crawfordville; and sisters: Linda (Phil) Duval of Tallahassee, Wilma (John) Russell of Whigham, Georgia, and Lucy (Woodrow) Powell of Spring Creek, Georgia. Fifteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous other family members also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son: Paul Taylor, her grandson: Kyle Taylor, and her brothers: Gene Mims and Charles Mims. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Mt. Beasor Primitive Baptist Church, Sopchoppy, where she was a member. Reverend BB Barwick and Reverend Michael Hall will be officiating. Burial will follow at Panacea Cemetery, Panacea. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
