Mr. Richard “Gus” Albert Davis, age 62 of Sanderson passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 at his home after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Sanderson. Rick was the oldest son born to the late Elmus and Shirley (Canaday) Davis, Sr. on October 22, 1959 in Jacksonville. Rick enjoyed the outdoors; fishing, hunting with his father and brothers, and watching his garden grow. People would say he could fish in a ditch and get stringer full of fish or take old garden seeds and every one of them would come up and produce enough food for his family and more. Bust most of all, he loved spending time with his wife and family; watching them grow and making memories to last forever with them. He was married to the love of his life, Sharon L. Rowe, on June 28, 1980 for thirty five years until her passing in 2015. He worked hard for his family as a construction worker until he became disabled. You were always welcome at the Davis house and were treated like family. He had you eat supper with them and made sure you didn’t leave hungry. He always was willing to lend a helping hand when he knew someone was in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife; sisters: Rita Faye Davis and Cindy D. Sanders; and a nephew: Rodney Scott Davis.
He leaves behind his son: Joshua N. Davis of Sanderson; grandchildren: Brenton Davis and Brandi Davis both of Sanderson, Kaiser Davis of Macclenny, and Hunter Groves of Starke; a great-grandchild: Ryland Ray Hadley; brothers: Elmus (Carolyn) Davis, Jr. and Jerry Davis, Sr. all of Sanderson; sister-in-law: June Scott; brother-in-law: Edgar Sanders; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.
