Retha May Harris

Retha May Harris, (formerly Bell), age 70, passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at her residence in Macclenny. Retha was a lifelong resident of Macclenny and was born on January 25, 1951 to the late Mr. Lacy and Wealthy Ann (Griffis) Harris, Sr. She attended school in Baker County and would go on to work for many years as a nursery worker. When she was able, Retha enjoyed keeping a small garden and tending to her flowers. She liked to go fishing and more than anything, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Lacy Harris, Jr., Cecil Harris, Raleigh Harris, Lonnie Harris, L.C. Harris, Bobby Harris, and Ray Harris; and a grandson: Kyle Newmans.

She is survived by her children: Robert (Nadia) Bell of Lake City and Regina (Kenny) Kemp of Green Cove Springs; grandchildren: Kaleb Newmans, Korey Newmans, Lacey Bell, and Bradley Bell; six great-grandchildren; brothers: Earl Harris and Raymond Harris both of Macclenny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church with Pastor Albert Starling officiating. The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Interment will follow at South Prong Cemetery.
