Ret. MSgt. Philip Edward Crawley, Sr., 81, a nearly lifelong resident of Baker County, passed away at his home on May 15, 2024, with his loving wife by his side. Philip was born in Morganton, North Carolina on September 30, 1942 to the late Mr. Guy and Mary Jane (Mabe) Crawley. Philip would enlist in the United States Marine Corp following school and would serve in the Vietnam War. As a result of his service, he was the recipient of a Purple Heart, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, along with several other decorations. After his stint of twenty years of active service duty, Mr. Philip would serve as a civilian, as a diesel fuel pump instructor at Camp Johnson, North Carolina and as a supervisor at Blount Island for twelve years, totally nearly forty years of service to his country. Upon meeting Mr. Philip, you knew he was extremely proud of his service in the Marine Corp.

In his free time, Philip enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing and hunting, and was a longtime member of the VFW Post 8255 in Middleburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and stepfather, Howard Malone; and a brother: Drew Malone.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Crawley of Macclenny; son: Philip (Christina) Crawley, Jr. of Hubert, North Carolina; step-children: Terry (Kathy) Rochester of Ranger, Georgia, and Tony Rochester and Tracy (Rachel) Rochester both of Jackson, Georgia; grandchildren: Julian Philip Crawley, Tadashi Crawley, and Avigail Crawley; as well as six step-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Christian Fellowship Temple with Pastor Timmy Thomas, Rev. Bill Allen, and Ira Cofer officiating. The family receive friends at the church an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery, 2115 State Road 100, Lake City, Florida 32025.
