Ms. Patricia Ironside, age 85 of Glen St. Mary, and formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Woodland Grove Nursing Home in Jacksonville, after a long battle with heart disease. She was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to the late Aloysius J. and Janet Shorrock Overend. Patricia worked as a realtor in the Jacksonville Beach area for many years. She loved bowling and bowled many tournaments at Beach Bowl. Above all, family was most important to Patricia. She was the epitome of a family matriarch and always had sage advice for all. She will be greatly missed and forever loved by many. Patricia is survived by her children: Susan Simpson of Stony Point, NC, Bonnie Raye of Jacksonville, Laurie Wall and Sally (Joe Ballard) Haynes all of Macclenny, and Pete (Jennifer) Ironside of Jacksonville Beach; sister: Peggy (Tom) Elderedge of Ormond Beach, FL; brother: Joe (Jean) Overend of Hope Valley, Rhode Island; grandchildren: Crystal, Matthew, Julie, Gabriel, Kayla, Sarah, Jason, Brandon, Valerie, Tim, Mikee, Patricia, Hanna, Frankie, and Logan; and numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and love of her life, William P. Ironside, who were married in 1951 while he was serving on a submarine with the United States Navy. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, May 27, 2017 in the chapel at Forbes Funeral Home. Interment will follow at H. Warren Smith Cemetery, Jacksonville Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Morocco Shrine Center, Patient Transportation Fund, 3800 St. Johns Bluff Road S., Jacksonville, FL 32224, as Patricia was a burn victim that was helped by the Shriners throughout her childhood.
