Owen Milton Knight, 77 of Macclenny passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2019 with his family by his side.
He was born December 30, 1941 in Maxville to the late Mr. Millard T. and Pansy May (Godwin) Knight.
He was a 1959 graduate of Baldwin Senior High School and lived the majority of his life in Maxville before moving to Glen St. Mary to be closer to his children.
He was an extraordinary musician and loved to sing and play music. He had a well-known band for many years, "Bobby Lee and the Blue Dots". They played all around the North Florida area for years and the mention of their name brings back wonderful memories for family, friends and fans.
Another large part of Mr. Owen's life was farming. He learned it at an early age from his father and passed that knowledge along to anyone willing to learn.
Owen loved the Lord and learned this love from his father who was a pastor and from his God-fearing mother. A few days before his passing, Owen told his daughter to be sure to make it known how much he loved the Lord. His wish for those who wanted to honor his life was to pray for the lost.
Mr. Knight led mostly a private life but those who knew him on a personal level were blessed because of it.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Walter Knight and Edwin Knight.
He leaves behind to cherish the memories: his two daughters, whom he loved with all of his heart: Tina (Mike) Griffis and Belinda (Robert) Fletcher all of Glen St. Mary; sister: Jeanette Baker of Ashville, North Carolina; grandchildren: Jay (Danielle) Crews of Glen St. Mary, Kristi (Tommy) Mobley of Sanderson, Justin (Amber) Griffis of Glen St. Mary, and Sara (Brandon) Little of Macclenny; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of other family members and friends.
The family will be receiving friends Monday, December 2, 2019 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM at Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church.
A funeral service to honor Mr. Owen's life will be held at 1:00 PM at the church with his grandson, Pastor Justin Griffis officiating.
He will be laid to rest following services at Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. "Hank" Forbes Jr. and Hawke M.T. Forbes of Forbes Funeral Home. "With Your Family In Mind". 904-259-4600. Please leave your thoughts and condolences for the family in the online guestbook at www.forbesfuneralhome.net.
