Mrs. Mildred L. Lutz, age 89 of Macclenny and formerly of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015. Mrs. Lutz was a retired music teacher. Upon receiving her degree from the Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia she traveled to Paris, France to further her education in music. Prior to her retirement to Macclenny, she taught music at Glennville State and Shepherd Colleges in West Virginia, as well as schools in Virginia and Maryland. She was a music program supervisor for six years. She loved performing and traveling and sang with the American Medical Music Group, with whom she performed in Russia, Spain, France, Italy, and China. The latter part of her life was devoted to the music of the church, particularly at the First Baptist Church of Sanderson, where she was a member. Mrs. Lutz is survived by her nephew: Chester (Bonnie) Lentz of Macclenny; numerous other nieces and nephews and her best friend: Carolyn Hamner of Macclenny. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers and four sisters. She will be missed by many students and friends. A celebration of her life will be held 5:00pm, Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Sanderson with Dr. Roy Vining officiating.
