Mr. Maurice "Brother" Raker, age 84 of Crawfordville, passed away at his home, Saturday, April 18, 2015. A lifelong Wakulla County resident, Mr. Raker was a commercial fisherman. A US Army veteran, Mr. Raker served during the Korean War and received several medals and commendations. He was a member of the Whiddon Lake Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed farming, fishing, and riding his tractor. He loved spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed "just piddling around". He is survived by his wife: Linda Harvey Raker; daughter: Marjorie Ann (Don) Maas of Tallahassee; step-son: Ronnie Allen of Crawfordville; grandchildren: Stephanie Maas (Jeremy) Scanlon and Emily Maas; step-granddaughter: Shanna (Rob) Boutwell; great grandchildren: Jacob, Lillie, Emma and Maddie. He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert and Dossie Strickland Raker; brothers: Dalton Raker, Artence Raker, and Herbert Raker; sisters: Verlie Thomas and Hester Smith, and his twin sister: Marjorie Lovell. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Whiddon Lake Primitive Baptist Church, Crawfordville, with Elder Bruce Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Whiddon Lake Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
