Mrs. Mary O. Griffis, age 92 of Manning, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015. Mrs. Griffis was born to the late John W. and Edna Hargroves Manning and was a lifelong Baker County resident. She was a homemaker and greatly enjoyed caring for her children and grandchildren. She loved quilting, embroidery, and cooking. She also enjoyed attending church and travelling to the mountains. She is survived by her son: Glenn (Norma) Griffis and daughter: Diane Griffis, all of Manning; brothers: Vernon Manning and Robert (Carolyn) Manning, all of Manning and Ferrell (Alberteen) Manning of Lawtey; sister-in-law: Annette Manning of Glen St. Mary, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: Joseph Griffis; granddaughter: Debbie Griffis; brothers: J.W. Manning, T.L. Manning, Eugene Manning, and Lawrence Manning; and sister: Inez Tyson. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Crossroads to Victory Church in Lawtey, Florida with Pastor Kris Elkins and Reverend Neil Griffis officiating. Burial will follow at South Prong Cemetery, Sanderson. The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Friday, March 27, 2015 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny.
