Mary Maudlee Beverly

Ms. Mary Maudlee “Maude” Beverly, a longtime resident of Glen St. Mary passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at her home at the age of 87. Born in Douglas, Georgia on April 28, 1936, Maude was the daughter of the late Jordan and Gladys (Lindsay) Hutchinson. She was one of five children. She would eventually move to Jacksonville and worked for many years as a cafeteria worker for the Duval County School District.

Ms. Beverly loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She liked taking care of her homeplace and spending time reading her bible. She also enjoyed crosswords and loved flowers. She will be missed as the matriarch of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: J.C. Hutchinson, Quitman Hutchinson, Fay Smith, and Jenell Knowles; her loving husband William Edward “Bill” Beverly; and a daughter: Marlene Thrift.

She leaves behind a son: Glenn (Shirley) Beverly of Macclenny; grandchildren: Christina (Albert) Crews, Buck (Jennifer) Beverly, Carrie Beverly, and Erin (Gary) Reneau; eight great-grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren; as well as extended family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Cheshire and Rev. Steve Dobbs officiating. The family will start receiving friends at 12:00 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville, Florida at 3:00 PM.
