Mrs. Martha Caroline "Callie" Miller, age 103 of Lake City/Fort White, moved into the Lord's Kingdom Monday, November 30, 2015. The Lord, being pleased with His daughter, released her from all cares and worries after fulfilling her calling here on earth. Callie was born September 11, 1912 in the community of Brush Creek in Athens, Tennessee to Christopher and Margaret Kinser Sliger. Mrs. Miller was a well known seamstress, avid gardener, and the best cook in the south. She had the demeanor of a quiet, simple country girl with a strong resolve and unwavering faith. She sacrificed all for her family and never complained. She is survived by her daughters: Sylvia (Alfred) Mobley of Fort White, Florida and Sue Miller of Lanark Village, Florida; sons: Allen (Pat) Miller of Athens, Tennessee and Ronnie (Linda) Miller of Yulee, Florida; son-in-law: Buddy Bond of Tallahassee; and daughters-in-law: Carolyn Colley Miller of Live Oak, Florida and June Miller of Lake City. She also leaves behind twenty-seven grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren and twenty-three great, great grandchildren. She was preceded to the Celestial Kingdom by her parents: Christopher James and Margaret Kinser Sliger; husband: James Conlin Miller; daughters: infant Nellie, Phyllis Conner and Faye Strickland; sons: Charles Miller and Ray Miller and grandsons: Eric Miller and Tim Goforth. Mrs. Miller was the last surviving child of seven siblings. Funeral services will be held 12:00pm, Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lake City with Reverend Chad Benefield officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lake City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
