Martha Griffis

Mrs. Martha A. Griffis, age 84 of Baldwin, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Mrs. Griffis was a founding member and trustee of Raiford Road Church in Macclenny. She was a hardworking, professional woman who retired from the Duval County Property Appraiser's Office and also from St. Vincent's Hospital. She was a selected member of Altrusa International, Inc., an organization for business and professional women. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren who were her greatest blessing. She is survived by her son: Jerry (Debbie) Griffis of Baldwin; daughters: Elaine Griffis of Macclenny, Janet (Donnie) Wright of Green Cove Springs, and Gayle (Junior) Combs of Baldwin; brothers: Dan (Julia) Reid of Palm Coast, Johnny Reid of Plant City; sisters: Sally Rollins of Jacksonville, Dannette (Clarence) Pender of Fort White, Becky Lacey of Tennessee, and Bibbie (Johnny) Mattair of Plant City; brothers-in-law: D.L. Griffis, Joe (Mavis) Griffis, Harold (Angie) Griffis, Wayne (Doris) Griffis, all of Macclenny, and Louis Conner of Bryceville; sisters-in-law: Earnie Mae Griffis, Bonnie (Otis) Varnes, Bonnie Griffis, all of Macclenny, and Loretta Conner of Hilliard. Ten grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband: Allen Griffis; parents: Dan and Mattie Reid and Vivian Clark; brother: Mack Reid; and great, great grandson: Jackson Luffman. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Raiford Road Church with Pastors Eddie Griffis and Johnny Raulerson officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
