Mark William Scarborough, 70 of Citrus Springs passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at his residence with his family by his side after an extended illness.

Mark was born on March 31, 1949 to the late Clarence Earl and Annie (Griffin) Scarborough in Williston. He was one of four children.

Mark was a 1967 graduate of P.K. Yonge High School in Gainesville and went on to attend the University of Florida for some time. Mr. Mark dedicated 30 years to the City of Gainesville as an electric engineering supervisor, mapping out the whole city. It was said that he knew what kind of electrical transformer was on every street corner in Gainesville by memory.

In 1999, Mayor Paula Delaney declared May 11, 1999 Mark Scarborough Day in Gainesville, in recognition of his hard work and dedication to the city.

In his free time, Mr. Scarborough enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an accomplished musician, his first choice being percussion instruments. He loved to go fishing and boating with his wife and his favorite spot was Cedar Key.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Bonnie Scarborough; sons: Jason Scarborough of Titusville and Jordan (Ieda) Scarborough of Clarksville, Tennessee; seven grandsons and one granddaughter; brother: Clark (Barbara) Scarborough of Archer; sisters: Valerie Hipp of Archer and Claire Robinson of Belleair Beach; as well as numerous other family members, friends and colleagues.

A graveside service to honor Mr. Mark's life will be held Monday, December 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Archer with Lt. Col. USAF Res. Jason Scarborough officiating.
