Ms. Lula Mae Payne, age 78 of Sanderson, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014. Born in Baxter to the late Jim and Thelma Crews, she was a lifelong Baker County resident. A retired waitress, she spent several years at the old "Margie's Restaurant" on Highway 90 in Macclenny. She enjoyed crochet and gardening. She loved watching baseball and was an avid football fan. She especially loved the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Florida Gators. She loved her dogs and loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her son: William (Bertha) Clark of Las Vegas, NV; daughter: Lynn (Larry) King of Mt. Dora, FL; brothers: Jimmy Crews of Lake City and Michael Crews of Yulee; sisters: Diane (Audy) Jordan of Lake City and Shirley Sweat of Atlanta; niece and caregiver: Marlynn Crews Harvey of Sanderson and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas "Tom" Payne. Funeral services will be held 12:00pm, Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in the chapel at Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny, with Reverend Billy Crews and Reverend David Hodges officiating. Interment will follow the service at Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
