Lonald Douglass Bell, 82 of Macclenny, Florida passed away peacefully from cancer with his family at his side at Frank Wells Nursing Home on March 4, 2025. Lucky was born on February 13, 1943, in Birmingham, Alabama to Elmer and Clair Howell Bell. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps, completed two tours in Vietnam, served with the first AV-8A Harrier Squadron, served as Drill Instructor at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA and retired as a First Sgt. (acting Sgt. Major) in May 1986. During his military time, he was an avid runner. He ran in the Jacksonville "River Run" several times, Disney Marathon in Orlando, and Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC. He was dedicated to his faith, family, and country. He served in the Marine Corps for 22 years. After his military retirement he was employed with the Florida Department of Corrections, retiring as a Sergeant in January 2004.

Lucky married his sweetheart, Marie Fraser on May 5, 1970, and were happily married for 54 years. Together they traveled to many places, and especially enjoyed their trip to Mt.

Rushmore, Crazy Horse monument, The Badlands National Park, Yellowstone National Park and The Teton National Park, where Lucky said this was "God's amazing, beautiful work." Besides traveling, Lucky enjoyed spending time with family, working in the yard and in his barn, writing poems, and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Donna Nicodemus; nephew Ricky Nicodemus; and mother-in-law Doris Fraser.

Lucky is survived by his wife, daughters Tammy (Andy) Burt of Hilliard, FL, Dixie (John) Bollingberg of Fessenden, ND, Robin Bell of Lawrenceburg, TN; sister Linda (Danny) Speegle of Hanceville, AL; brother Michael (Carol) Bell of Moody, AL; grandchildren Landon Vincent, Lydia Vincent, Blake Vincent, Jude Bollingberg, Grace Bollingberg; sisters-in-law, Margie Norman and Paulette Thomas; brothers-in-law, Aubrey Fraser and Mott Fraser; nieces, Wynde Winter, Audrey Kennedy, Tina Thomas, Leigh Ann Fraser, Jacquie Fraser, Melissa Fraser; nephews, Don Dickerson, Brett Nicodemus, Lee Norman, Mark Norman, Dennis Norman, Scott Fraser, Andrew Fraser, Charles Thomas, James Thomas, along with many friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 28, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors to be rendered.
