Lois Jean Gillespie

Lois Jean Gillespie, age 96 of Crawfordville passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Eden Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Lois was born in New Castle, Indiana to the late Virgil and Olive Paul on March 5, 1926. She would work for a number of years as a secretary in the automotive industry. Ms. Gillespie loved music, playing the piano and organ, as well as singing. Lois even sang at the Inaugural Ball for President Dwight Eisenhower. In her later years, Ms. Gillespie settled in Wakulla County to be closer to family but had spent several years in Las Vegas prior to moving. She will be remembered for being a dedicated wife and mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; numerous siblings; and her beloved husband of fifty-four years: William Howard Gillespie.

She is survived by her children: Diane (Barney) Harrell of Sopchoppy and William (Aletha) Gillespie of Perry; grandchildren: Jeanie (Hank) Barbree, Greg (Lori) Harrell, Becky (Chris) Hewett, and Jeffrey Moss; two great-grandchildren; and other extended family members and friends.

Memorialization will be by cremation and she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Friendship Memorial Gardens at a later date.
