Lillian Davis Kirkland, a Sanderson native, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Center at the age of 93. Lillian was born on September 2, 1929 to the late Mr. Ervin and Eva (Dorman) Davis.
Miss Lillian would be best described as a hard-working woman. She was the owner of the Fraser Food Store for over thirty years, as well as the Fast Way Food Store in Olustee. Her children said if you were around her for very long, “you were going to work hard too!”. In her down time, she enjoyed traveling with her husband Bill in their motorhome. She was the matriarch of her family and leaves a great legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings; a grandson: Alton Fraser; and her beloved husband: William “Bill” Kirkland.
She leaves behind to cherish years of memories, her children: Al (Charlotte) Fraser, Judy (Michael) Long, and Cindy (Tommy) Ott all of Glen St. Mary, Jeff (Lori Gifford) Fraser of Jacksonville, W.M. “Guy” Kirkland of Callahan, and Lisa (Otto) Campos of Macclenny; seven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; siblings: Algia Davis of Sanderson and Patsy Boyette of Fernandina Beach; as well as a multitude of extended family members and friends.
The family will be receiving friends Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Emmanuel Baptist Church from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will take place Monday, March 6, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Tommy Richardson officiating and Pastor Michael Ramondetta and Bro. Jim Nickles assisting. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Long, Payton Prescott, Cade Fraser, Ethan Fraser, Jace Stokes, Tate Fraser, Dawson Fraser, and Alex Stokes.
