Reverend Joseph Clyde Anderson, age 77 of Glen St. Mary, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018. Born in Baxter to the late JC and Mary Anderson, he was a lifelong Baker County resident. He spent almost forty years as an ordained minister and was a member of Bethel Holiness Church in Jacksonville. Reverend Anderson devoted over twenty-five years to prison ministry; having ministered at Baker County Correctional, including the re-entry facility, and Cross City Correctional in Dixie County. He was also a firefighter and heavy equipment operator; first with the Division of Forestry and then Rayonier Inc., where he was employed until his retirement. Reverend Anderson loved his family and took on the responsibility of organizing the Anderson family reunion for the last thirty-five years. In his free time, he enjoyed going fishing, gardening, and enjoying a good, country style meal. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years: Mary Anderson; sons: Joseph C. (Tracey) Anderson Jr. of Sanderson and Jeremy L. Anderson Sr. of Glen St. Mary; daughter: Melanie Anderson of Macclenny; brothers: Reverend Johnnie (Ruby) Anderson and Michael (Sherrie) Anderson, all of Macclenny; sister: Cleo (Sam) O'Steen of Mayo, Florida; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son: Johnny Malachi Anderson, brother: Edward Anderson, and sisters: Esther Anderson, Lavonne Brumfield, and Genevieve Lucas. Funeral services will be held 3:00pm, Friday, April 6, 2018 at Christian Fellowship Temple, Macclenny with Reverend Jimmy Mathis, Sr. and Reverend Johnnie Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery, Sanderson. The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Christian Fellowship Temple.
