John V Carter

Mr. John V. Carter Jr., age 76 of Macclenny, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran and a forty year resident of Baker County. Mr. Carter had a forty year career with Winn Dixie Stores, Inc.; working as a manager in several Florida stores. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed fishing, playing computer games, and having coffee with his friends. He was a diehard Clemson Tiger fan, loved spending time with his family and his cat "Pokey", and enjoyed attending church at Christian Fellowship Temple. He is survived by his wife of twenty years: Linda J. Carter of Macclenny; daughter: Jennifer (Frank) Cooper of Jacksonville; step-daughter: Jeanie Smith of Jacksonville; step-son: Warren (Danielle) Rhoden of St. George, GA; grandchildren: Ruthann Cooper, Will Carter Cooper, Justin Smith, Jessica Pascoe, Jordyn Smith, and Galean, Bailey, and Malachi Rhoden; sister: Linda Murray of Jacksonville; and numerous other family members. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Christian Fellowship Temple, Macclenny with Pastors David and Tim Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Turner Cemetery, Glen St. Mary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
