Dr. John Nolan Drummond, age 71 of Macclenny, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2017. Born in Jacksonville to the late John and Alberta Canova Drummond, he was a longtime Baker County resident. After serving in the United States Army, he obtained a Bachelor of Chemistry degree from Jacksonville University and a medical degree from the University of Miami. Dr. Drummond also obtained a Juris Doctor degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. He remained active in the US Army as a reservist during this time and retired after participating in Operation Desert Storm. He spent time serving medically at various hospitals in Jacksonville including: Memorial Hospital, Baptist Hospital, University Hospital and Shands. At the time of his retirement, he was the in-house doctor for the Worker's Compensation and Pensions Department at the VA Hospital in Gainesville. He enjoyed operating his family's farm, growing pecans and raising cattle. Dr. Drummond was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Macclenny and a member of the American Legion Post 208. He is survived by his wife: Elizabeth Drummond; son: Christopher (Russ) Drummond-Rossi of Chicago, IL; daughters: Sarah (Dan) Wilber of Jacksonville, Jennifer (John) Ream of Ponte Vedra, and Mary (Myles) McAllister of Jacksonville; and grandchildren: Lily, CoCo, and Georgia Ream and Charlie, Banks, and Fletcher McAllister. His family will celebrate his life at a later date. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice for their support during the time of Mr. Drummond's care and passing.
