John Warren Cross

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, John Warren Cross, age 69. John was born on November 18, 1955. John grew up on Center Street in Baldwin, Florida. The family later moved to Bryceville, Florida. He graduated from Baldwin High School in 1973. John earned his living as a commercial truck driver. John was intelligent, well read and an historian. The man who departed this earth on February 9, 2025, loved God. He was passionate about history and politics. He was kind, generous, loving, and was devoted to his family. 

 He is preceded in death by his father, John Martin Cross, and his mother, Janice Walker Cross. He is survived by his sister, Annie Cross Spell (Michael), his brother, James Logan Cross, his niece, Jennifer Nelson Cope (Chris), and their children, Hunter Cope, Catherine Thompson Lyon (Eric), Aurora Lynn and Emily Cross Lyon.

 A Memorial Celebration will be held at Guerry Funeral Home, Macclenny, Florida, on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM. There will be a graveside service at Bryce Cemetery, 6404 Church Ave., Bryceville, Florida, on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 10 AM., weather permitting. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you make a donation to Bryceville Historic Church and Cemetery, in John’s name.
