John Coombs

Mr. John S. Coombs Jr., age 62 of St. George, Georgia and formerly of Jacksonville, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015. Mr. Coombs was a member of the St. George Church of God and was a retired seafood salesman who loved his job. A kind, gentle man, Mr. Coombs loved his family and helping those less fortunate. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and living the country life. He was an avid Jacksonville Jaguar and Florida Gator football fan who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Roxanne Coombs of St. George; mother: Frances Coombs of Macclenny; daughter: Holli (Ray) Krause of Jacksonville; step-daughter: Nicole Gaston of Ocala; step-sons: Les (Sonia) Gaston and Daniel Gaston all of Jacksonville and Joshua (Lizzi) Gaston of Griffin, GA; sister: Sharon (Scott) Probst of St. George and grandchildren: Valin, Sydney, Jaelynn, Dylan, Reagan, Ryan, Logan, Madison, Azariah, Bella, Aylissa, and Shaelynn. He was preceded in death by his father: John S. Coombs Sr. A celebration of his life will be held 3:00pm, Friday, September 11, 2015 in the chapel at Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny with Reverend Grady Allbritton officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to City Rescue Mission in Jacksonville.
