Mr. James Edwin “Jim” Talcott, age 78 of Jacksonville passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital. He was born in Macon, Georgia on May 26, 1943 to the late Mr. James C. and Sarah (Laney) Talcott. The family would eventually settle in Texas. Jim would come to Jacksonville on vacation in the 60’s and never leave. He would marry the love of his life in May of 1969 and together they would spend fifty-two wonderful years. Jim worked for many years as a mechanic and inspector for General Electric before retiring. He enjoyed his spare time in the outdoor, fishing and hunting, and was a longtime member of the Alligator Creek Hunting Club in Callahan. He and his family were members of Westside Baptist Church for many years and in the last few years Jim had been attending Old Plank Baptist Church, where he was active in social events.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Faye Talcott.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Mrs. Barbara Talcott of Jacksonville; daughters: Debbie Talcott and Suzanne Talcott both of Jacksonville; granddaughter: Alexis Marie Talcott of Jacksonville; brother: Tommy (Cathy) Talcott; and niece: Jennifer Dewoody of Texas.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Old Plank Baptist Church with Pastor Larry McGinley officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park with Rev. Ray Mayfield officiating the committal service.
