Mr. James M. Johnson, age 62 of Macclenny, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer. A Baker County resident since 1979, Mr. Johnson was a twenty-five year employee of Industrial Steel Fabricators and most recently was a welder at Whitley Steel in Maxville. He was a member of the Dawkins Masonic Lodge #60 of Macclenny. He enjoyed woodworking, grilling, gardening and fishing. He was of the Christian faith and especially loved spending time at home with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Vanessa Johnson; sons: Clayton (Brandy) Johnson of Gainesville and Nathan Johnson of Macclenny; daughter: Kathy Johnson Lee of Macclenny; mother: Hazel Pope of Jacksonville; brothers: Leonard (Clara) Johnson, Sr. of Lake City and Dale Johnson of Jacksonville; sisters: Jeraldine (Frank) Waters and Rhonda (Steve) Holden, all of Jacksonville and Diane (James) Robinson of Jackson, GA; and grandsons: Colton and Brody Lee of Macclenny. Numerous other family members and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his father Maynor Johnson, and sister Loretha White. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Manning officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Memorial Park, Jacksonville. The family will receive friends 6-8:00pm, Monday, December 30, 2013 at Forbes Funeral Home.
