Mr. James A. Rhue, age 89 of Glen St. Mary, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017. Mr. Rhue was a United States Army Veteran, having served as an MP during the Korean Conflict. He also served some time with the Merchant Marines. Mr. Rhue worked for the City of Jacksonville as a maintenance supervisor. He was the head groundskeeper at the Gator Bowl Stadium and at the Jacksonville Suns Stadium for many years. A hardworking man, he worked as a greeter at Walmart after his retirement from the City of Jacksonville. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing and doing yardwork. Mr. Rhue also loved traveling to Disney World and volunteering at Pine Level Church in Baxter where he was a member. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of forty nine years: Barbara Rhue; sons: James G. (Sabra) Rhue of Olustee and Michael James Rhue of Michigan; daughter: Barbara L. (Paul) Drakos of St. George, GA; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son: Raymond Lee Rhue; and brother: Raymond L. Rhue. A celebration of his life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, July 15, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Haven Hospice of Lake City.
