Irene Newmans Prevatt

Mrs. Irene Newmans Prevatt, age 87 of Macclenny, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2016. A lifelong Baker County resident, Mrs. Prevatt, was a retired food service provider for the Baker County School System. She had a heart for people and never met a stranger. Mrs. Prevatt enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Baker County Council on Aging. She loved traveling, especially to the mountains, cooking and crochet. She treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her son: Larry (Wanda) Prevatt of Macclenny; daughters: Glenda (Don) Scallan of Macclenny, Margie (Robert) Guy of Glen St. Mary, and Annie Briner of Macclenny; sister-in-law: Mildred Prevatt of Macclenny; eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Marvin Prevatt; granddaughter: Misti Jones; mother: Anna Newmans; and brother: Joe Newmans. A celebration of her life will be held 3:00pm, Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Macclenny Primitive Baptist Church, where she was a member. Elder David Crawford will be officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor Cemetery, Sanderson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
