Gregory Curtis Tompkins, 65 of Live Oak passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his residence while surrounded by family.
Greg was born June 18, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Mr. Clyde S. and Olive (Robertson) Tompkins.
Greg was a well educated man and was even described by those best knew him to be a "genius". An inventor and engineer, Greg was the owner of several business through out the year, most notably Porta-Pull, a cable puller used by electricians worldwide. Other companies owned and operated by Mr. Tompkins included Maritech and GC Electric.
When not working, Greg enjoyed a private life with family. At one point he was working on his pilot's license, as he admired aircraft. He will be missed by family and friends and remembered for his loving nature.
He had been a resident of Live Oak since 2016, moving there from Davenport, Florida where he spent several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Clyde Tompkins III and Richard Tompkins; and a sister: Judith Lee Minor.
He is survived by his wife: Ms. Shirley Tobias Tompkins of Maxville; brother: Kenneth D. Tompkins of Pillsburg, Kansas; sisters: Elaine Robb of Warsaw, Missouri and Donna Reams of Australia; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
