Ms. Florene Sheffield, age 94, of Macclenny, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018.
She was born on June 11, 1924 in Screven, GA to the late Mr. Marion and America Thorton.
After working in assembly for Kinco Windows for many years, Ms. Sheffield enjoyed a retirement that included spending time with family and friends. Prior to moving to Macclenny 6 years ago, Ms. Florene was a longtime resident of High Springs. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time at the Baker County Council on Aging, listening to music and playing bingo with the friends that she made there. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, who never met a stranger.
She is survived by her sons: Jimmy (Judy) Lightsey and Jerald (Phyllis) Lightsey both of Macclenny; grandchildren: Ricky Purvis, Sherry Willis, Melinda Hollinsworth, Tommy O'Neal, Brenda Swan, Ricky Rowell, Scott Lightsey, Lisa Hall, Megann Lightsey, and Jerry Lightsey; 19 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren and other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter: Carolyn Anderson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 12:00 pm, in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny, with Rev. Tommy Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Macclenny. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
