Ewell Grant Mills, Jr.

Ewell Grant Mills, Jr., a longtime resident of Jacksonville, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home at 82 years of age. Ewell was born in Scalf, Kentucky on November 23, 1941, the son of Ewell, Sr. and Litha (Davis) Mills. Upon high school graduation, Ewell moved to Ohio where he met his wife and the mother of his children, Sandra. After ten years, the couple and their young family relocated to St. Petersburg, where Ewell would work in the newspaper business. They enjoyed life there before eventually settling in Jacksonville in the early nineteen-nineties, where he would spend the remainder of his life.

Ewell enjoyed golfing and fishing in his downtime. He was also an avid Nascar fan.

He is survived by his loving daughters: LeighAnne Morrill of Jacksonville, Laura (Chris) Calise of Gainesville, and Leslie (Garrison) Vickers of St. Petersburg; grandchildren: Brian Baxter, Rebekah Mowry, Rachel Baxter, Sarah Calise, Salvatore Calise, and Alec Morrill; three great grandchildren; and siblings: Billy Ray (Debra) Mills of Dunnellon and Betty Faye (Dwight) Wallace of Palm Harbor.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Mills; his former wife and mother of his children: Sandra Mills; his parents; a brother: Frank Mills; and a granddaughter: Ashleigh Mills.

Final memorialization will be by cremation.
