Evelyn Mims Ward

Evelyn Mims Ward, 82 of Crawfordville passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Baptist Hospital South in Jacksonville. She was born on July 14, 1938 to the late Mr. James Joshua and Jewell (Odom) Mims in Westville, Florida. She attended school up until she joined the family working on the farm. She eventually settled in Wakulla county and was a resident for over sixty years. She spent most of her life taking care of her home and children, but later in life she worked at Wakulla Manor Nursing Home (currently Eden Springs) as the housekeeping supervisor. In her spare time, Ms. Evelyn enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers. She liked to read and to do jigsaw puzzles. She also loved to go out to eat with family and friends, making plans on where to eat days in advance.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister: Gail Messer.

She is survived by her children: Sharon Ward (Dennis) Moseley and Philip (Lucy) Ward all of Crawfordville; sisters: Betty Whitehead of Columbus, Georgia, Mary Nell Slaughter of Bonifay, Maxine (Bobby) Smith of Crawfordville, and Wanda (Billy) Jackson of Westville; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Graveside services will be held Monday, August 17, 2020 at 12:00 PM CST at Bonifay Cemetery.
