Ms. Elsie Elizabeth Webb, age 91 of Macclenny, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab.
Ms. Elsie was born on March 6, 1928 in Mayport, Florida to the late Mr. John J. and Minnie (Goodwin) Hilgerson.
Elsie grew up in the Jacksonville area and worked as a waitress in her early years. While working as a waitress, she met her future husband and love of her life, Mr. Early C. Webb in 1946. They were later married and spent the next 62 years together, loving life as husband and wife until Mr. Earl's passing.
Ms. Elsie attended the University of North Florida and received a certificate in housekeeping. She spent 15 years working there at UNF, eventually reaching the level of supervisor of housekeeping, prior to her retirement.
Ms. Webb spent 20 years in Cross City, where she was a founder of the Dixie County Meals on Wheels Program. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, as well as cooking. She liked playing bingo and also loved butterflies. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She also was an avid traveler, loading up and hitting the road with her best friend, the late Ms. Lois Cook. Most importantly, Ms. Elsie loved her grandkids and her dear pomeranian, Gracie.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her daughter Ms. Barbara Ray, and her brothers.
She is survived by her daughter: Donna (Bobby) Hackney of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Lewis Churchville II and Christopher (Tonya) Churchville both of Macclenny, and Daniel (Angel) Churchville of Cleveland, Tennessee; great-grandchildren: Skyler Churchville, Kali Churchville, and Brianna Churchville; brother: Frank Hilgerson of Cross City; as well as numerous other family members.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
