Effie Kennedy

Mrs. Effie Bradley Kennedy, age 72 of Macclenny, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016. Born in Macclenny, to the late Henry and Leona Garrett Bradley, Mrs. Kennedy was of the Methodist faith. Before her retirement, Mrs. Kennedy worked for the Census Bureau and Revlon USA in Jacksonville. She was a member of the Macclenny Moose Lodge 2412 and enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles, and singing. She was an avid fan of NASCAR Racing and Jacksonville Jaguar Football. She loved working outside in her yard and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her husband: William "Bill" Kennedy of Macclenny; sons: Bobby Pettyjohn of Jacksonville, Ricky (Jessica) George of Nashville, TN, and Jeffrey George of Chapmansboro, TN; daughters: Diane Powell of Hendersonville, TN, Caroline Pettyjohn of Jacksonville, and Sheila (Tommy) Morton of Jacksonville; step-children: Douglas (Nelva) Kennedy of Denver, CO and Kathi (George) Schleigal of Michigan. Twenty three grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her grandson: Joey Wright; great grandson: Jessie Adam Murrhee; and step-children: Billy Kennedy, Michelle Kennedy, and Matthew Kennedy. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home with Reverend Don Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery.
