Ret. SPCO Edward Clyde “Ted” Wirick, Jr. of Macclenny passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital at the age of 81. He was born on January 25, 1942 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to the late Edward and Sara (Wilson) Wirick, Sr.

Mr. Wirick was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and retired as Senior Chief Petty Officer.

In his free time, Ted was involved in the local Baker County Ham Radio Club. He earned his technician license at the age of 15 and spent his entire life operating, staying interested in NASA and Space especially. He also was an avid fan of the Florida Gators.

He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints here in Macclenny and had been a part of the LDS Church since his 20’s.

He was preceded in death by his parent and a sister: Patricia (David) Rankin.

He is survived by his beloved wife: Suzanne Wirick of Macclenny; children: Todd Hirschi of Orlando, Brett (Shiloh) Wirick of Manila, Utah, Heather (Skylar) Thomas of American Fork, Utah, Cory Wirick of Tucson, Arizona, Betty (Mike) Sorna of Jacksonville, and Nancy (Robert) Huston of Hixson, Tennessee; twenty one grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings: Linda (Scott) Campbell of Maine, Tom Wirick of Zephyrhills, Robert (Mindy) Wirick and Tina (Paul) Mayr both of Orlando; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Macclenny with Bishop Jacob Cranford officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment will take place Monday, April 17, 2023 at the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
