Mr. Earl M. Traugott, age 83 of Glen St. Mary, passed away Monday, October 17, 2016. Mr. Traugott was born in Patterson, Georgia to the late John E. and Mary Douberly Traugott. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving for nearly thirty years. He was a member of both the Fighter Squadran Forty Three and the Attack Squadron Eighty Seven; an attack aircraft squadron and the first fleet squadron to fly the LTV A-7 Corsair II at NAS Cecil Field. He received many awards and citations. Upon his military retirement, Mr. Traugott worked for another twenty years as a mechanic for Roux Laboratories, later known as Revlon Company, in Jacksonville. He was a member of the American Legion Lakeshore Post 137 in Jacksonville and enjoyed fishing, and traveling to bluegrass music festivals in his RV. He also enjoyed attending church at Road to Calvary in Glen St. Mary and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife: Sallie Long Traugott of Glen St. Mary; sons: John (Catherine) Traugott and Earl Traugott Jr., all of Jacksonville, Joe (Amy) Traugott of Orlando, and Mark Bennett Sr., of Glen St. Mary; brothers: Charles S. Carter of Susanville, CA and Charles E. (Susan) Traugott III of Elgin, IL; sisters: Lillian (Dennis) Smith of Hattiesburg, MS, Linda (Bob) Gaskin of St. Petersburg, FL, Catherine (Larry) Fuss of Tucson, AZ, and Karen (Adam) Osborne of Leonardtown, MD; grandchildren: Chris (Katie) Traugott of Atlanta, GA, Molly Traugott and Jennifer Traugott, both of Orlando, and Mark (Ashley) Bennett Jr. of Savannah, GA; great grandchildren: Nolan, Marci, and Claire Bennett, all of Savannah, GA; aunt: Jeanette Lowman of Patterson, GA; and a faithful pet Yorkie: "Abby". He was preceded in death by his parents and by the mother of his children: Eileen Traugott. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Monday, October 24, 2016 at Road to Calvary Church, Glen St. Mary, with Pastor Tommy Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Sanderson. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
