Earl J. Collins

Mr. Earl J. Collins, age 75, of Sopchoppy, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016. A thirty five year Wakulla County resident, Mr. Collins was originally from Tennessee. He proudly served in the United States Army for twenty two years and was a Vietnam War veteran. He spent twenty years working at the Ace Hardware Home Center in Crawfordville. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, doing yard work, and repair work for friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed attending church at the Panacea Congregational Holiness Church, where he was a member. Mr. Collins dearly loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He is survived by his wife of fifty three years: Marie Burns Collins; son: Kenneth (Liz) Collins of Sopchoppy; daughters: Dorraine Collins (Tommy) of Lee, Florida and Sheila Yates of Sopchoppy; sister: Helen Fender of Orlando; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will take place graveside,11:00am, Monday, September 19, 2016 at Grimes Cemetery, Sopchoppy with Reverend Ronnie Metcalf officiating. The family will receive friends at the Collins' residence (794 Oak Park Road, Sopchoppy) on Sunday, September 18, 2016 beginning at 11:00am.
