Dorothy Kathaleen Tyson

Ms. Dorothy Kathaleen Tyson, age 73 of Hawkensville, Georgia and formerly of Glen St. Mary, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017. Ms. Tyson was a 35 year Baker County resident before moving to Georgia due to health reasons. She was born in Jacksonville to the late Theodore and Dorothy Byrd Canaday. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. Ms. Tyson always put her family first. For a time, she owned and operated Kathaleen's Florist in Macclenny. She is survived by her sons: James Larry Tyson of Glen St. Mary and Travis (Celinda) Tyson of Hawkinsville, Georgia; daughter: Staci (John) Akridge of Glen St. Mary; brother: Freddy Canaday; sisters: Patricia Kelley of Macclenny, Becky Canaday, and Reba Canaday (Scotty) Lee of Hobokin, Georgia; twenty grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty five years: James Freddy Tyson. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Thursday, November 30, 2017 in the chapel at Forbes Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Manntown Cemetery, Glen St. Mary. The family will receive friends 5-7pm, Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the funeral home.
