Ms. Dorothea Allison Morris, age 80 of Sanderson passed away Monday, July 5, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital following an extended illness. She was born on April 5, 1941 to the late Mr. Benjamin and Isabelle (Harris) Guinn in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and was one of nine children. Ms. Morris loved to spend time in her yard, tending to her garden and meticulously taking care of her flowers. She enjoyed the time she got to spend with her family. She enjoyed shopping and lunch dates with her daughters. She was a huge fan of everything Elvis and had visited Graceland on multiple occasions. In her downtime, Ms. Dorothea watched Wheel of Fortune and spent time doing puzzle books. Her grandkids were her world, and she was always going above and beyond for them.
She was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings; an infant son: Timothy Morris; stepchildren: Rhonda Altman and Little Jimmy White; and her former husband and the father of her children: Mr. Russell Morris.
She is survived by two loving daughters: Connie (Daniel) McGowan of Jacksonville and Christine (Mark) Messer of Yulee; grandchildren: Jennifer (Ryan St. John) McGowan, Daniel (Danielle) McGowan Jr., Ally McGowan, Hunter (Brooke) Young, and Holden Messer; great-grandchildren: Quinn St. John, Max McGowan, Brady McGowan, and Riley Jane McGowan; her faithful companion of thirty-nine years: Mr. Jimmy White; his grandchildren: James White and David White; her beloved furry baby: Missy; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Forbes Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services in the chapel. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Macclenny.
